Supporting communities that face barriers to inclusion through meaningful connection. Since the beginning, Substance Cares has worked to create a fair and inclusive country for all Canadians. Neil and Xavier were inspired by Xavier’s son, who was diagnosed with autism at age two. Together, they created Spectrum Works. It is a job fair that helps autistic job seekers connect with employment in a welcoming and supportive space.
Substance Cares works to create a fair and inclusive country for all Canadians by offering accessible, educational programming that supports equity and community growth.
It began with a conversation between two friends. Neil Forester and Xavier Pinto, cofounders of Substance Cares, were talking one evening when Xavier shared his concerns about his son's future. His son was diagnosed with autism at age 2.
That conversation became the starting point for Spectrum Works. Their goal was to create real opportunities for autistic individuals by bringing people together in a supportive and inclusive way.
Spectrum Works is a national career fair designed to connect inclusive employers, job seekers on the autism spectrum, and service providers. Join us online or in person to explore new opportunities, build relationships, and support inclusive employment.
